Marginalized Artists are Front and Center at the 2024 Venice Biennale

The list of 332 participating artists has been announced for the main exhibition at this year’s 60th Venice Biennale, curated by Adriano Pedrosa. The show’s theme of “Foreigners Everywhere” explores the idea of living on the margins as an outsider or an émigré.
 

The Biennale’s outgoing president Roberto Cicutto also announced “today, I’m passing the presidency to Pietrangelo Buttafuoco.” The right-wing journalist was controversially nominated to take over by Italy’s culture minister Gennaro Sangiuliano, putting an end to Cicutto’s presidency after just one term out of a possible three.

“We are managing this passage,” he added, “fulling respecting the institution, so that everything that will take place will be in line with the quality that the Biennale deserves.”
