Tunisian artist Asma M'Naouar earned her Aesthetics and Arts Science degree from the Institut des Beaux-arts of Tunis in 1988, then pursued studies at the Rome Art Academy in Italy in 1993. She secured artist residencies in Switzerland, France, and Lebanon. Settling in Italy in 2002, she completed her Master's in Conservation at Palazzo Spinelli in Florence.
Her art embodies lyrical abstraction, with a unique focus on the color red, creating a vivid world of fiery lights through a diverse range of tones. Passionately using the color's potential, she crafts variations in brightness and darkness. Her oil paintings blend thickness and transparency, forming a free-form geometry with curved and oblong shapes. Layers of color build her compositions, enhancing a sense of depth.
Asma has consistently exhibited at Elmarsa gallery since 1996, with her latest solo show in March 2021 in Dubai. Her artwork has graced galleries, museums, and biennials across North Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, including the Sharjah Biennale (1995), Palazzo Suevo Bari in Italy (1998), the National Museum of Art in Kaunas/Lithuania (2003), and the Arab World Institute in Paris (2008).
Her talent has garnered numerous awards, including the 1st Prize "Giordano Bruno" in Solerno, Italy (1993), the First Golden Prize at the Biennale of Kuwait (1996), and the 1st Prize for Visual Art from the Tunisian Ministry of Culture (1999).As a guest speaker, she's participated in international art forums such as the Global Art Forum at Art Dubai and the Palais Namaskar in Marrakech. Her works grace public and private collections, including The Foundation Pietro Caporella in Rome, the Center Rachid Karamé in Tripoli, Lebanon, and the Tunisian Ministry of Culture, as well as private collections in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
